A Modern Approach to Recovery: Combining Osteopathy, Rehabilitation, and Shockwave Therapy.
At The Osteopathy Clinic, Shockwave Therapy is integrated with hands-on osteopathic treatment and rehabilitation to support recovery from tendon, muscle, and soft tissue injuries. Our aim is not only to reduce pain, but to help restore movement, improve function, and keep you doing the activities you enjoy
Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) is a non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic pressure waves to stimulate the body's natural healing response. It is commonly used to help manage persistent tendon, muscle, and soft tissue conditions by supporting tissue repair, reducing pain, and improving function.
ESWT is frequently used for conditions such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, tennis elbow, shoulder tendinopathy, and other chronic musculoskeletal injuries. The treatment is delivered externally through the skin, requires no injections or surgery, and is often used alongside osteopathic treatment and rehabilitation exercises as part of a comprehensive recovery plan.
Shockwave Therapy is often used when pain, injury, or dysfunction has persisted despite time, rest, or conventional treatment. By delivering targeted acoustic pressure waves to the affected area, shockwave therapy helps stimulate the body's natural healing processes and may assist in reducing pain, improving function, and supporting tissue recovery.
At The Osteopathy Clinic, Shockwave Therapy is not used as a standalone treatment. Instead, it is integrated with osteopathic assessment, hands-on treatment, rehabilitation exercises, and movement advice to address both the symptoms and the underlying factors contributing to your condition.
This combined approach allows us to support healing, restore movement, improve load tolerance, and help you return to the activities that matter most to you as safely and effectively as possible.
Shockwave Therapy is commonly used for a range of persistent musculoskeletal conditions, particularly those involving tendons, muscles, ligaments, and other soft tissues.
Common conditions include:
• Plantar fasciitis (heel pain)
• Achilles tendinopathy
• Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylalgia)
• Golfer's elbow (medial epicondylalgia)
• Rotator cuff and shoulder tendinopathies
• Patellar tendinopathy (jumper's knee)
• Gluteal tendinopathy
• Hamstring tendinopathy
• Shin splints (medial tibial stress syndrome)
• Chronic muscle injuries and soft tissue pain
A thorough assessment will be carried out to determine whether Shockwave Therapy is appropriate for your condition and treatment goals.
